Helping young people (ages 12–14) discover their potential, strengthen their moral identity, and contribute to the well-being of their community.
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program brings together young people between the ages of 12 and 14 in small groups where they explore meaningful ideas, build lasting friendships, develop powers of expression, and learn to serve their communities. The program recognizes the tremendous potential of young adolescents and encourages them to become thoughtful, confident, and compassionate contributors to society.
The years between childhood and youth are a unique and formative stage of life. During this time, young people begin to think more deeply, develop their own identity, and become increasingly aware of the world around them. They possess tremendous energy, curiosity, and a growing desire to make a positive difference. By nurturing their spiritual and intellectual capacities during these important years, they can build the confidence, character, and sense of purpose needed to contribute meaningfully to their families, communities, and society.
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program seeks to help young people recognize their unique potential and develop the spiritual qualities, knowledge, and skills needed to navigate adolescence with confidence and purpose. Through meaningful conversations, friendship, and service, participants are encouraged to become thoughtful, compassionate, and active contributors to the well-being of their communities.
Junior youth are encouraged to:
Develop spiritual qualities such as honesty, kindness, courage, and justice.
Strengthen their ability to think critically and express their ideas clearly.
Build confidence and a strong moral identity.
Form lasting friendships based on mutual respect and encouragement.
Recognize their capacity to serve others and contribute to their community.
Develop a lifelong love of learning and personal growth.
Junior youth participate in a variety of engaging activities that encourage learning, friendship, creativity, and service, including:
Meaningful group discussions
Study of inspiring texts
Arts and creative expression
Games and recreational activities
Community service projects
Prayer and reflection
Planning and carrying out activities together
Service is at the heart of the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program. As young people grow in understanding and confidence, they are encouraged to identify the needs of those around them and respond through acts of kindness and service. Whether caring for the environment, supporting a community initiative, or helping a neighbour, junior youth discover that even small acts of service can make a meaningful difference and contribute to building stronger, more caring communities.
Junior youth groups are accompanied by trained facilitators known as animators. Rather than acting as teachers, animators encourage meaningful conversations, foster friendships, and create an environment where every participant feels valued and inspired to learn, grow, and serve. They accompany junior youth as mentors, helping them discover their own capacities and contribute positively to their communities.
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program is open to all young people between the ages of 12 and 14, regardless of their background, beliefs, or previous experience. Participation is free, and everyone is welcome to join in a spirit of friendship, learning, and mutual respect.
